Do you have a “Birdcage Piano”? These pianos are typically very old (1920’s and 30’s and older). Here are some pictures of one I recently serviced.
In my experience even if the piano is almost free, and even if you can find a technician who will service it, the end result will not be beautiful (that’s putting it nicely). In this particular case it was a fairly satisfying end result, purely based on the feedback from the client, who after handing me $140 in cash said, “Totally worth it!”
Hey, if it puts a smile on their face, and I can get paid to improve the world just a little, then I’d say it was worth it too!
p.s. In most cases the best number to call if you have a birdcage piano is 1-800-GOT-JUNK…but don’t just take my word for it!
