What is Piano Voicing?

Over time the hammers (the little felt drum thingys that hit the strings) become flat and hard. This creates at bright, brassy tone which can make it difficult to play expressively.

Sometimes hammers have to be replaced, but oftentimes they can simply be filed to achieve their original shape. Then a qualified technician can use a combination of needles and/or hardeners to improve the voice the of piano.

In a nutshell voicing your piano will give you the greatest ability to play from the softest pianissimo up to the loudest fortissimo possible on your piano! And that is a lot of fun!! 🙂
